At the turn of the century, Springfield had "a patron class that saw good architecture as part of their civic function."

Adopt a Preservation Priority

Each year, the Springfield Preservation Alliance recognizes five irreplaceable community assets that need our help. These Preservation Priorities contribute to Springfield’s rich history and provide our community with its unique sense of place and identity. Often suffering from years of disregard, these historic resources are in varying states of neglect. Some are even threatened by demolition. However, they are too important to lose. This is why we need your help in protecting, promoting, and preserving these historic resources for future generations.

Being declared a Preservation Priority does not guarantee protection, but is designed to increase awareness and understanding of each site’s importance. The Adopt a Preservation Priority program partners our community’s dedicated citizens with these significant local resources. There are two ways to get involved:

1. Signup to be Priority Liaison. Liaisons work with members of our Public Policy Committee to determine which measures are appropriate and work to implement these ideas. Do not worry if you do not have experience. An eagerness to effect change through preservation is the only requirement! To get involved in protecting the best of our past for our future, fill out the form below!
